Public Relations Photography

Good P.R. photography captures the readers attention with instant visual impact and tells the story as soon as it is viewed, it sets  the scene and adds both interest and intrigue which demands that the reader looks further for the supporting information.

With all of this in mind, when we’re commissioned to produce public relations photography, we take a brief and look to create images which are not just technically correct, but deliver the message in an instant.

We often are asked to work in challenging locations and are always looking to add drama and action to our photography, no matter how mundane the situation may be.

A cold warehouse full of pallets and forklift trucks may not sound like the most exciting location in the world, in fact we would sooner be working on a sunny beach with girls in wetsuits, but that can’t be the case every day of the week, especially as our photographic studios are in Yorkshire! so it is our task to make something decent of the cold warehouse, and with a little bit of organisation, the coaxing of store-men into acting rolls and a bit of shifting and moving, we can create an interesting and natural looking shot which tells the story.

Organising nervous and apprehensive people and then getting them to look natural in front of camera is very often the key to good public relations photography, and it’s a skill we have which comes only with experience, whithout  it we would rarely get any shoot finished.

We often arrive at a companies premesis weighed down with cameras and lights and you can see the fear in peoples eyes. It’s as if we are travelling dentists or VAT inspectors, but we always win people around and eventually leave with great shots for the P.R. company or agency.
